A Letter from Lindy Sept 10

Beloved Pilgrims,

I will miss you this Sunday as I travel to Washington DC to participate in an anti-semitism workshop hosted by the Holocaust Museum. Back when I expressed a desire to participate, dates had not been secure and, of course, when they were published it was the weekend just after I returned from my August sabbatical. The Sabbatical Committee and I discussed whether I should withdraw and they encouraged me to go given the importance of the conversation. So I beg your grace with my absence this weekend.

Let me close by giving you a glimpse of what I will be experiencing over the course of Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Our host is the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies program on Ethics, Religion and the Holocaust’s Interfaith Relations in Local Communities. Through film, presentation and conversation, we will explore the critical role local faith communities must play in this important work. Our conversation guide over the three days, in addition to the Center’s staff will be Dr. Abdullah Antepli of Duke University. I look forward to a weekend of deep reflection and conversation.

see you in a few days,
