A Letter from Lindy Sept 3
Beloved Pilgrims,
I have missed you all the while enjoying a “soft summer” month of August. Nothing earth shattering, just tending to self-care and having family visit a few times throughout. All was restful and delightful as I found a slower rhythm that included daily meditation, exercise, gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with my mom. I am deeply grateful for the slower pace as the summer comes to a close and our fall programming kicks in.
Also a learning experience was Thompson contracting Covid during their visit over my birthday weekend. Probably picked up at the airport or on the plane. As a family, none of us had been infected to date and almost dismissed the symptoms as “flu/cold.” As an afterthought, I suggested a Covid test, and positive it revealed. And super sick she got, sporting a 103 fever, body aches, and the rest of the accompanying symptoms. We had to learn anew how to adapt to the contours of an illness we once knew readily, juggling the high energy of a toddler who could not understand mommy not being available. An important, albeit, disappointing experience to remind us that this current mutation is both highly contagious and easily transmissible. Jake and I remain negative, although we quarantined for a week, testing daily.
I will be in the clear when I greet you on Sunday, so I’m grateful for that wonderful outcome.
see you in a few days,
