A Letter from Lindy May 28

Hi Pilgrims,

Well, here we go….my last Sunday before I set sail for my first sabbatical month. Figuratively, not literally, mind you. At least physically. Mentally, emotionally, spiritually, who knows?! 🤣

Truthfully, your sabbatical committee and the board of deacons and Pilgrim staff have been working intently to ensure that, more than proceeding without a hitch, your June is replete with rewarding worship (and beyond, see below) experiences. Collectively, we have put as much thought into your journey as my own. I pray we are equally nourished and nurtured together while apart.

My only ask of you is to open yourselves to the experience as intentionally as you can and be fully present for our guest speakers. I very much want them to enter a full sanctuary of people anticipating God’s word through them. It can feel intimidating to enter a community of which you are not a part and then to offer your story, your journey for communal examination….well to do so is to trust Pilgrim with one’s vulnerability. I know you will hold each with care and love, as you do for me Sunday in and Sunday out.

I will be praying for you through June and hope you will do so for me as I seek rest and renewal to return fully to a community I love.
with gratitude,

until Sunday,
