A Letter from Lindy Dec 1
Happy Thanksgiving Pilgrim! I hope all of you are where you want to be this holiday. Whether joined by family or friends or in blessed quietness, I pray you feel the touch of the spirit that surrounds and holds us all.
The final touches on the Hanging of the Greens service have been completed and I am imagining with joy the wonderful Pilgrims who will birth this liturgy into being. Thank you all! I hate missing being a part of ushering in my favorite season of the Christian year, but as we talk daily to our daughter and son-in-law, holding them in our embrace, as Jake gives his dad back to God, is exactly where we should be.
I am mindful as we process the swirl of emotion within our little family, that although this season points us toward a hope we perhaps cannot see, this holiday month can feel unbearably difficult for many who just can’t dress themselves in its festive spirit. Precisely for this reason, I am grateful to be part of this beloved community, for within it, I feel God’s love hold me however I show up.
One fellow Pilgrim turned to me Sunday after the joy of yet two more baptisms :) and remarked that he couldn’t imagine not having this to ground one’s journey, yet so many do not. Nodding in agreement, my prayer is that all who gather within this beloved community experience sacred sanctuary that invites us to breathe and to listen for the hope that is the heartbeat of this season.
