A Letter from Lindy Sept 4
Pilgrims,
Well this Lolly is filled to the brim that she was able to mark her granddaughter with God’s holy water, welcoming her into Pilgrim’s embrace. As so many of you remarked, I beamed with joy. Sacred time with a missing piece is how the Wood/Bellet family experiences any such occasion, and we are learning to hold them with care– cherishing the love that remains earthbound.
I know Thompson and Jake felt your embrace and I am truly grateful to be surrounded by this beloved community– your love radiates out to all. A few days later, Lennox had a baptism more of her choosing, as water is her preferred location –shower, bathtub, pool, it simply doesn’t matter as she delights in any and all….and fusses when she is removed.
If you are skeptical, just look at this face…
I think she is part mermaid :)
As I take a small weekend break, please open yourselves to receive God’s word from our wonderful Richard Whitaker. I am so grateful that his giving heart is always ready to serve, even when there are last minute weekend switcharoos. I know the Holy Spirit will be moving in and through the sanctuary as you attune yourselves to its rhythm.
Sunday, September 11, not only marks my five year turn with Pilgrim, but ushers in our Homecoming and the kick-off to our 2022-23 year of ministry, formation and education. I pray you join us to celebrate the teachers in our midst. We will extend homecoming another week, continuing its celebration on Sunday, September 18 as we affirm Pilgrim’s 2022-23 slate of officers and thank all of those who have faithfully served, and will be stepping away from Pilgrim leadership for respite and renewal. As a way to thank each and every one of these Pilgrims, the Board of Deacons will be hosting a Taco Fiesta after the congregational meeting. Our first collective church meal since the advent of the pandemic in 2020. Technically the second as we did break bread in celebration of our beloved Dickersons who are now part of Pilgrim’s cloud of witnesses. I hope you will join us, as you are able and comfortable, to thank all of the Pilgrims who deserve to hear us proclaim, “well done, good and faithful servants!”
I hope to see you all upon my return.
