A Letter from Lindy Aug 28
Pilgrims,
This week feels like a flurry as we attempt to juggle vacations with the weekly demands of church. Actually we are trying to front-load two weeks of worship as Franklin steps a way for a well deserved respite this Friday (8/26). Although, knowing the Miami he is traveling to, I’m not sure he’ll be getting much rest ;) He will be back in the office Friday (9/2). Felix and I will do our best to hold down the fort, but we seek your grace as we manage through his absence.
It would have been a double whammy for Felix had my original plans held with me taking my birthday weekend off, anticipating the arrival of my family to help me celebrate. I was all set and then we got to talking about Lennox and what Thompson and Jake were imagining for her baptism. Although they have been nominally connected to the church where Jake’s mom works pre-Covid, since pandemic, they have been regularly attending Pilgrim via zoom. As you can imagine, the multiple factors that converged over the past few years made worship possible only if they could do so from home. A reminder that we never know when we are entertaining angels unaware. So, knowing our visits tend to be me traveling to Orlando, this happy occurrence of them in Durham led us to easily conclude this weekend for Lennox’s baptism. My heart sings with joy that Pilgrim feels like a church home not only for the Wolstenholme (Salistad) family, but now also for the Bellet (Wood). I pray those who are in town in this last gasp of August will join as I have the honor of baptizing my granddaughter.
With this slight change in schedule, I will then take a few days off around Labor Day weekend to recharge my batteries after a busy summer so that I return, renewed and refreshed, for the return of our regular rhythm. I say that knowing I am not totally convinced that we actually geared down for summer 2022.
We have a lot of wonderful ideas in store for Fall, so I best be ready.
