A Letter from Lindy Oct 23
Pilgrims,
Although just returned from Orlando barely a week ago, I depart again Friday for a Board of Trustees meeting at my alma mater. I will miss you this Sunday but know your hearts will be stirred by Rev. Dr. Nancy Ruth Best as she offers a stewardship word that God will channel through her. I can’t wait to experience it when I return.
Even though it is a few weeks out, I ask you to mark your calendar for Sunday, November 6, All Saints Sunday, as we welcome a special guest to offer us God’s Word and holy inspiration. Those of you who are invested in Pilgrim’s work with Durham CAN know there was a transition of leadership this past year. We shook our heads in joyous disbelief when one of the Strategy Team’s co-chairs felt God’s nudge to leave her position with Durham County Public Schools to serve as CAN’s lead organizer. We could not be more ably served than by the leadership of Ketty Thelemaque as we work to shape the present and the future of Durham for all its residents.
Ketty will join us on November 6, not only so that she can come to know one of CAN’s participating churches, but also because she wants to lend her presence to our congregational listening session which we will hold immediately after worship. I pray for your attendance and participation. Many of you have joined past sessions, thus you know the critical importance they play in shaping the priorities through which CAN will engage the city and county. Our voices are critical in helping CAN discern which issues burn deeply in our hearts for which we want our prayers to manifest to concrete action.
Please join me on Sunday, November 6 in welcoming Durham CAN lead organizer, Ketty Thelemaque to Pilgrim’s embrace.
