A Letter from Lindy Dec 4
Well… Pilgrims,
As much as Advent beckons us to be alert and watchful for the unexpected, I wasn’t ready for the news I received Tuesday morning when Franklin plopped himself in one of my chairs to share the news that he had been offered the role of Administrator at Binkley Baptist Church. Not only does this offer provide him a full time position with benefits, but it also expands the foundation he has built at Pilgrim to supervise two other employees. Felix’s words capture our collective emotion, “I know I’ll get to being happy for you, but for now I’m just sad you’re leaving.” Gosh, how do we weather yet another transition?!
The short answer is I’m not sure. Franklin’s end date is January 1, 2023, not wanting to leave Pilgrim in the lurch. He truly loves working with us and is sad to be leaving. But this is an opportunity he could not let pass by. So we commission him with our blessing, while lamenting our loss. Let us give thanks that his years with us have helped mold him into the candidate that Binkley believes will serve them well.
His departure brings Pilgrim’s search process to two, if not three positions, depending upon how our music ministry search unfolds. As much as I yet have an answer to how we will staff our administrative functions come January, I am pleased to share that Julie Mitchell has graciously agreed to continue her interim time with us after Nick’s departure on Christmas Day. During these past five months, she has stepped in to both lead and accompany the choir in Nick’s absences, and began to feel the nudge to further grow her capacity within Pilgrim’s embrace. We are grateful for both her and our openness to see how the combined role feels for all involved for a few more months while the search process continues.
With that, if you have not glanced at the current job posting, it invites the possibility of either one and/or two candidates for the position. Let us use these months wisely to discern holy possibility for Pilgrim.
