A Letter from Lindy August 11
Hello Pilgrims, writing to you on this rain-soaked Thursday!
I hope you sheltered in place if possible and/or stayed safe with however your day unfolded. As I hope you saw in previous emails that day, out of an abundance of caution, I closed the office so the staff did not have to brave the roadways, as advised by….just about everyone.
Last night as we were making this decision after Durham Public Schools closed, my brain started doing calendar gymnastics to try to figure out how to live into my schedule while simultaneously staying safe. I figured I would wait until morning to see if the caution from local news was truly warranted. And then closed all things electronic and went to bed.
And then I lost power around 3am which turned out better than an alarm clock, as I began receiving regular text updates from Duke Energy. Funny how being disconnected from WIFI prompts one to rationalize driving to the office in a tropical storm. Thankfully, power was restored by 7, so I didn’t have to make that choice.
Debby, along with family in town over the weekend and a minor medical procedure on Tuesday, has left me somewhat out of rhythm of Pilgrim’s comings and goings, so I don’t have a lot to share. I know your Pilgrim team has much in store for the coming weeks and I hope to find you back in the pews. Specifically, for our Homecoming celebration on August 25. Many fun, but critically important, offerings will be part of the day. Stay tuned.
until Sunday,
Pastor Lindy
