A Letter from Lindy April 6
Pilgrims,
As much as I am leaning into our beautiful weather, I have not ventured outside much given the
yellow hue of pollen that seems to touch every surface…and just hang in the air… everywhere. My neighbors laughed pre-rain earlier this week, parking their cars in their driveways versus tucked away in their garages, in the hopes of washing the yellow sheen away. And it did, for perhaps the night, but by morning our vehicles were blanketed again. Well ok, maybe not blanketed, but lightly sheeted 🙂. Luckily, I am not suffering the onslaught of attending allergies that so many are. For those who are miserable, my prayers surround you.
We have a full weekend of worship and ways in which we will surround the Whitaker family as we thank God for the gift of Martha’s life on Saturday and make baptismal promises to Mars on Sunday. The circle of life we will traverse. My heart is filled with gratitude for our Creation Justice and Trustees who are outside tidying our campus as I write.
Which reminds me to encourage you to mark your calendars for Holy Week, as we have meaningful services planned for our walk through. We usher in the week with our Palm Sunday service, with Ashtyn grounding us with her meditation. Maundy Thursday at 5:30pm, we will find our seats at God’s love feast, as did the disciples with Jesus at the Last Supper, introducing practices that will help us create mental space resist and respond to the dizzing, numbing pressure and chaos of our new reality so that we stay the course and live into the work God calls us to. Much like the disciples, our mission and ministry does not change, even in their case with crucifixion, rather it intensifies the need.
On Easter Sunday, our day is full of God’s hope and love, starting with our “sunrise” service at 8am in the Columbarium, followed by our Easter breakfast, and then our Easter Cantata at 10:30am. The day would not be complete without our Easter Egg hunt for our youngest. I pray these festivities bring hope and joy, while fostering our deep sense of community.
I look forward to sharing them with you.
