A Letter from Lindy April 16

Pilgrims,

Gosh, I am grateful to have the season of Eastertide as this week feels like it has flown by and us standing with Mary at the empty tomb, a distant memory.  I walked with someone today who questioned whether they actually felt “Easter” when it happened which brought forth a wonderful meandering query about our emotional expectation for that day juxtaposed against the actual story of how people were feeling, not just on that day, but for some time thereafter. Our conversation left me wondering what it means to claim ourselves as resurrection people.

Even as I hold these (and many more) questions, I do want to create a grateful space for our wonderful Easter and Holy Week services. Huge accolades for Ali and Kyle and our choir and our delightful returning guest musicians who offered us their gifts in a manner befitting our proclamation. The tone and tenor of the music encompassed the grief that unfolded to wonder of those first disciples as they beheld the mystery of resurrection. I pray that our wondering stays with us as we wander away from these glimpses of God’s loving and faithful response to humanity, regardless of our actions and words therein. This core understanding of our gospel is what keeps my feet grounded on the Way, even through our valleys–that God is with us always and will never leave us abandoned to journey alone as our path unfolds before us.

Love that we do this together.

with grace,
