Letter from Lindy Feb 13
Hello Pilgrims,
How are you today? The sun is streaming through my front windows as I let its rays of warmth lift my spirits. My sister and niece made an unexpected trip to Durham to celebrate her birthday and their arrival has been a welcome gift of family. They are easy, caring guests and create some breathing space in my week as we share in my mom’s care. I am grateful. My birthday gift to her, as two adults, who need for nothing but world peace, is a week’s respite from a high-stress job, hiking and good food and deep conversation and re-connection. Sounds like the perfect gift, right?
Another wonderful gift is our return to in-person worship this Sunday. As the Covid Monitoring Team shared, our decision to shift to virtual came from specific factors like weather, baby, equity, while we were keeping our eyes on infection and hospitalization increasing numbers. We firmly believed that Pilgrim has followed careful, safe practices throughout pandemic and did not believe the Omicron variant alone changed our protocol. The combination of multiple factors birthed the conversation.
Although we made the subsequent decision to return briefly to remote worship, our campus remained open with our ministry partners continuing to use our facility, as long as they also adhered to our pandemic protocols. Some groups choose to be equally prudent and suspended in person gatherings for a short time, and we honored their decision.
As we go forth, we pray for the weather to cooperate as we will maintain fellowship and conversation outside. If the weather is inclement, we will make adjustments on a week by week basis. Please know, we will continue to maintain our ability to live-stream the service so as to witness to our mission of inclusivity. We want you to come… whoever you are, wherever you are, for you are welcome here!
with love,
