CROP walk 2022

THANKS TO EVERY PILGRIM WHO WALKED
IN THE DURHAM CROP HUNGER WALK!!

Last Sunday, April 10th 24 Pilgrims gathered at Duke Chapel for the Durham CROP Hunger Walk! We walked and volunteered in solidarity with those who walk miles everyday for food and water, we walked to make a statement about hunger awareness and we walked in protest of economic injustice. A few other Pilgrims walked virtually at their own pace and in their own times to do just the same! Together we walked to provide dinners for Durhamite families who are homeless, lunches for senior citizens, and bags of groceries for individuals who are financially struggling. Together we walked to provide Ukrainian refugee children with warm meals, Afghan families who recently moved to Durham welcomed meals, Haitian families seeds for their farms, and nutritious food for families in crisis around our world.

YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE DURHAM CROP HUNGER WALK
WITH YOUR DONATIONS!

You can donate by any of the following ways:

  • Through Pilgrim's Giving Website Page HERE

  • By donating directly to a Pilgrim Walker or to Pilgrim's Team through Pilgrim's CROP Hunger Walk Page HERE

  • By writing a check to Pilgrim UCC with the memo line Durham CROP Hunger Walk

75% of the funds raised travels around our world addressing Church World Service's mission to compassionately care about all God's children struggling with hunger and poverty. Right now CWS is helping to resettle Afghan families right here in Durham and addressing the needs of Ukrainians who are fleeing their homeland.

25% of the funds raised stays right here in our Durham community. These funds aid local poverty and hunger addressing agencies including Meals on Wheels, Families Moving Forward, Housing for New Hope, Threshold, Urban Ministries, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC, Open Table Ministry, Double Bucks for SNAP (food stamps) at the Durham Farmers Market, and local food pantries.

Thanks so very much to everyone who has already contributed to the Walk! Currently, we have raised $7375 on-line and $5,000 off-line - still far short of our $22,000 goal. Your contribution of any amount is greatly appreciated. The need is tremendous. We are currently experiencing a global refugee crisis and people right here in Durham are in need of our support.

Thanks again to everyone for your support of the Durham CROP Hunger Walk!

P.S. Ellen still has some Walk t-shirts! Let her know if you would like one!
