A Letter from Lindy May 5

Dearly Beloved,

In case you’re channeling Prince with me, as a huge fan… and agree with his belief that gathering together helps us get through this thing called life. Always grateful that my path brought me to Pilgrim where I get to gather with you.

We may not have gone crazy, but we did put in some sweat equity last Sunday, both inside and outside our church walls. Thank you all who took the elevator down from traditional worship to joined our worshipful work day. From my wandering to and fro throughout the campus, I think we may have had a bit of fun along the way.

A huge thank you to the Board of Trustees and Pilgrim Staff and Volunteers who made our day successful. We accomplished much….and there, as always, is still more to do.

The Board of Trustees would like your thoughts on the day. Did you enjoy the change of pace? In what ways might we make Worshipful Work better? Should we do it again? If so, once a year? Twice a year (Spring and Fall)? I’m sure there are more questions to ask, but these should get the ball rolling.

Now that we have Spring cleaned, and April showers have turned to May flowers, we have a month of celebration. As much as I would like to kick any fiesta off with tacos por todos on Cinco de Mayo, I want to draw your attention especially to Pentecost (5/19) and celebrating our Graduates (5/26), which also happens to be Memorial Day. The week prior to Pentecost we honor all of those who have mothered us through life—sacred has been their presence.

Woven through the four Sundays of May is our recognition of Mental Health Awareness month. If you’re lucky, grown ups just might be invited to experience our small animal petting zoo the last Sunday of the month along with our youngest Pilgrims.

I hope you are finding the space and time to be out celebrating our glorious weather and the beautiful bounty of nature that surrounds. Pick a place, any place, and your senses will delight.

 until Sunday.
