A Letter from Lindy May 12
Hi Pilgrims…
We are in for some pretty dense Sundays in the weeks to come–theologically, ecclesiologically, liturgically. It might only be fodder for preachers, with worshippers not really as hyped about Ascension, Pentecost and Trinity Sunday.
As these are the three Sundays to come in May, how one evokes our imagination and connection that will do justice to our resurrected Jesus’ climactic good-bye, and also his parting gift –the advocate, paraclete, Holy Spirit. Breath or fire, take your pick on how to receive Jesus’ blessing.
And if that isn’t enough to wrap our minds around, the final week of May, we are invited to wrestle with how to share our understanding of the triune God we confess as the body of Christ.
Maybe it would be easier to play it safe honoring Mothering Day, Graduation and Memorial Day;)
Weaving all of these touchpoints together may be challenging, but necessary as each reflects part of the fabric of our lives as people of faith, hoping to continue Jesus’ work in the world. Work that he has entrusted to his following friends that will now embark on this journey without him. A daunting task, but one we endeavor to do, spreading grace and joy and love with each footstep.
I believe this is why we gather each Sunday. To turn to each other. To share notes, prayers, concerns. To shore each other up for the journey ahead.
see you Sunday.
