A Letter from Lindy Jan 26

Pilgrims,
We have a wonderfully rich and full weekend in store that will help us grow as beloved community.

Saturday, 10am-12n, please join us for an engaging, hands-on training to deepen our understanding as an intentional dementia inclusive congregation. We have prayerfully been discerning this call for some time, and under the leadership of our wellness committee and Board of Christian Education, Saturday's session will be our first in-house engagement of conversation, questions and understanding of the many ways Pilgrims might become more relationally intentional with those who journey with cognitive impairment. Our hope is for broad participation across the expanse of our congregation, especially Pilgrim leaders, so whether you have followed the prompt or not to sign up, you are welcome to just show up and participate. Won't you join with me in welcoming Melanie Bunn, of the Dementia Alliance of NC, to lead and guide our time together.

Sunday, two important and special actions I invite you to take. First, will you join with me in offering our promise of welcome to Pilgrim's new Music Director, Nick Malinowski. By now, you have read (and probably heard whispers) about our newest staff member, so let us turn our word into action. Nick will begin leading the choir next week, so I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce him from the front of the sanctuary rather than from behind and above in the choir loft. My prayer is that as you meet and come to experience his gifts, you will become as excited as the music committee and choir for this next chapter of our musical story.

After worship, please remain in the sanctuary for our congregational meeting. As we open our hearts to affirm how God is calling us to bear witness this year, will you also offer prayers of gratitude for our dedicated budget committee who has opened themselves to God's nudging to translate our hopes and dreams into facts and figures. They have worked tirelessly to make our 2020 numbers not only tell our story, but help us usher in God's kindom (if but a glimpse) on earth. Bring your questions, thoughts, wonderings so that we take this step together as disciples on the way.
