A Letter from Lindy Feb 26

Hi Pilgrims,

So this happened yesterday while moving my mom’s furniture…I caught my foot and fell out of the van. Three-ish feet straight down on my dominant wrist and knee. Wonderful folks at OrthoNC (thank you Brandy Jones Neelam!!) can't be sure whether there may be a few sprains and/or if there might be a small fracture between the thumb and wrist. Double check with Brandy if I heard right, as she supported me through the visit and probably heard more clearly than I did ;). We will make a plan when I return Monday. For now, precaution dictates keeping that area immobilized. Typing is fun….

The beauty born from this little mishap was our extraordinary Glitter+Ash Wednesday service where my incapacity and pain required a little help from my friends. Felix was already stepping up by offering our brief meditation as it flowed from our Lenten devotional of which she is spear-heading our small group gatherings, and then basically the entire deacon board stepped in to share in both the readings and the imposition of glitter+ash. The choir came down from the loft to surround the gathered with music. Ali and Kyle feel like they have been with us for years, so seamless is their leadership command.

I never get to sit and watch our church in worship action and last night brought joyful tears to my eyes at the love that filled our sanctuary. Ash Wednesday is typically a smaller service, but this year our pews filled to the point we had to keep running bulletins to meet the demand. What a powerful way to begin this journey together.

Thank you all, your pastor is deeply grateful.
