A Letter from Lindy Feb 16
Hi Pilgrims,
As you scroll down this newsletter, you will discover in Felix’s note our thematic plan for Lent. Lent is coming. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 5 for our Ash Wednesday service, the entrance ramp for our journey. While still imagining the details, now more than ever, your pastor feels the divine tug to draw us into the tight hug of community to help us, as Felix suggests, find our center. I would add–holy center.
Before our lenten journey begins, however, we have the sacred ritual of baptism that I pray will stir our hearts with God’s movement in and through our community. A still small voice calling each of us to renew the covenant that God makes with us (and we with the Divine in and through beloved community). My hope always is that this ritual reaches deep into our memories touching our own baptism (or stories thereof if we were too young to remember), reminding us of the Holy claim made on our lives by Love itself. We need this talisman now more than ever as anxiety, fear and chaos wrap their tendrils around our days, tempting us to veer off course.
Vallery and Joshua Moussinangar will be presented by their parents, Alain and Sylvie, for this sacred act, trusting that their faith family will hold their children with love and care, as they make their way in this world. They invite us to be on their journey–speaking into their lives, teaching them and modeling what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Our yes requires courage as it asks us to rise to the occasion.
I look forward to joining with you in affirming the Moussinangar’s faith in Pilgrim to be beloved community with and for their children (and themselves).
I will look for you on Sunday.
grace and peace,
Pastor Lindy
