A Letter from Lindy April 9

Pilgrims,

As we prepare the newsletter earlier in the week for a Friday distribution, it feels odd to proclaim, “Christ has risen!”, awaiting your response, “he has risen, indeed!” when the tomb is not yet empty (figuratively speaking). In fact, it is empty because Jesus isn’t even there yet. We have two more fateful days.

And yet I am mindful that this in between is our faith journey –living in the tension of the “already” and the “not yet.” So why should Holy Week be any different? As I write in this liminal space, I pray that our Maundy Thursday service (tomorrow night as of this writing) will gather us together to lean into holy rituals that mark us as followers of Jesus. I pray you heed the call to bring non-perishable food items for our Little Pantry as our response to the gracious hospitality we receive at our Lord’s  Table.

For Easter, I pray the rain holds off so that we might gather in the Columbarium for our Sunrise Service. Dress warmly, the forecast has us dipping into chillier temperatures early Easter morning. As we linger between services (hint, hint, another prayer), there will be goodies and coffee to tide you through. That invitational prayer to stay for our Easter Worship is because I do not want you to miss another resurrection appearance of our Lord and Savior, and also of Pilgrim’s Spring Cantata. The magnificent music that has emanated from our choir loft these past seven weeks should surely whet your appetite for what is to come. The choir, under Ali and Kyle’s wonderful leadership, has been diligently learning and practicing exceptional pieces of music to captivate and enthrall as we stand with Mary in the garden, wondering why the tomb is empty.

I pray my prayers in you lingering, leave you wanting more….until Sunday.

with grace,
