Summer Tutoring for children and adults
This summer we are providing an enrichment program for three Latino families (5 children and 2 parents) on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings fro 9:30 until 12 noon. For children, we will prevent loss of English proficiency, improve academic skills, and introduce American customs and values. You do not need to know Spanish to work with these children. For adults, it’s helpful if the teachers know Spanish, and the goals are to help them function better on the job and to be able to help with children’s homework.
Tutoring will be from June 20 to August 12 (8 weeks). We are looking for tutors who can work one-on-one for 3 days a week, but will accept volunteers for 1 or 2 days a week.
Our class on teaching English on Tuesday nights will continue during the summer with these same families and with other adults.
Please contact Mary Anna Hovey with questions or interest in volunteering.
