Letter from Lindy
Well, Crop Walk is here! I pray many of us have signed up, so that Pilgrim has a good walking team for us to make the trek together. We have been asked to gather in front of the Chapel no later than 1:45, the walk to begin at 2pm.
Sunday, we will bless the walkers and commission them forward, praying for no cramped muscles or tired feet–and lots of money raised for this important cause. As we gather in the sanctuary for worship, we will be surrounded by the artwork created at the women’s retreat. I will invite us to move to the outer aisles for our benediction, so that you might have an opportunity to circle these wonderful pieces, much as the retreat goers did for each other.
One fun thing we did as we moved from painting to painting was to offer a title for each piece which then became fodder for a poetry slam about our art. My goal is to have pieces of paper and pens by each for you to offer your words, so the authors/artists have an opportunity to create another poem about their “masterpieces”.
Speaking of the retreat, a huge thank you to our retreat leader, Claudia Fulshaw who took the gathered on a meaningful journey–and we had such fun along the way. Create, Pray and Love is exactly what we did, and we are refreshed and nourished by it. We were equally blessed by our spiritual guide, Emily Zinzist, who grounded us in place and spirit. Thank you, thank you! We missed those who could not join us and hope our art prompts your curiosity for next year.
Crop Walk culminates an eventful weekend with the wedding of John Brown and Kate Geouge, Saturday at 3pm. As you have learned, all Pilgrims are welcome to surround this wonderful couple with your presence and prayers as they covenant in marriage. A short reception will be held in fellowship hall immediately after the service so the bride and groom can thank you.
