Letter from Lindy
Lots of missives this week for various events, causes, celebrations….I hope you didn’t feel inundated. If you didn’t get my emails regarding our Inclusivity Team and/or Housing for New Hope, please let me know, so that we can check the office google group to ensure we have your correct address.
Below you will see two ongoing appeals that I hope you will respond to. We need tutors for our bilingual summer camp. There are many ways to plug in to care for and support these amazing kids–and you don’t even need to speak Spanish. If you have some time this summer, please consider volunteering at least one of the camp sessions. It is one of the most rewarding things Pilgrims do!
The other important push is for you to send your photos to the deacons for our pictorial directory. I can’t tell you how many times I hear, after referencing a fellow Pilgrim, “I don’t know who that is.” Well, if everyone responds with a photo, you will all know each other by sight and name. Wouldn’t that be awesome?!
Keep reading, as there are two additional important invitations. First, from my count, we seem to have another wonderful group of folks who want to make Pilgrim their church home. Are you one of them? If so, mark your calendars for Sunday, June 23. After worship, the Board of Deacons will be hosting a “Getting to know Pilgrim” conversation for your edification and discernment if you are considering taking the plunge. And the plunge?! New Member Sunday, Sunday, June 30. As a way of getting to know our non-Sunday side, all are welcome to join in Saturday’s (June 29) festivities to celebrate the Dolbow’s 50 wonderful years of marriage:) If you didn’t get an invitation, please let me know, so we can correct that omission.
Finally, if you’ve had your ear to the ground around campus, you may have caught wind of a group called Perking Up Pilgrim, who are giving of their creative talent and time to re-imagine Pilgrim room by room.
Work has begun on my office, and the Parlor and Nursery are next! The designs are amazing and much in need! And we hope we can keep going!
An enterprising Pilgrim has challenged us to raise money through a capital campaign, for both our current projects and beyond. They have pledged $5000 as seedling, asking each of us to help grow that amount through a Perking Up Fund that the team can draw against room by room to make Pilgrim beautiful inside and out. I don’t want to cap the fund goal, but maybe a first step will be to match this initial offering.
Can we do it? I hope so!
