Sunday School
Sunday morning activities for children immediately follow the children's word in worship. Teams are teaching grades Pre-K/K, grades 1-2, and grades 3-5.
During the 9:30 hour we have activities for children (including music at 10:15), and the seminar class for adults.

New Nursery Caregiver
We are pleased to announce the hiring of Chana Kraus-Friedberg as our new paid caregiver. Chana will be here on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings as needed. Chana is doing post-doctorate work at Duke and comes with excellent recommendations and experience with children.

Seminar Class
On Nov 9, Kristin Herzog will talk about Gift-Giving: its joy, challenge and ambivalence. Do we give in order to please ourselves or God or other people?
On Nov 16, Tynette Hills will introduce a book by Peter Gomes, The Scandalous Gospel of Jesus, part 1, "The Trouble with Scripture".
All are welcome in the Community Room at 9:30 on Sundays.

Middle and High School Youth Group
Youth are invited to a joint UCC youth lock-in on Nov 21-22 from 8 pm to 8 am at Umstead Park UCC in Raleigh, together with youth from Hillsborough UCC and Community UCC. Come to meet other UCC youth, learn about homelessness, and have a great time together. |

Tea and Memories
If someone in your immediate family has died in the last couple of years, please join jus for a time of afternoon tea and memories, surrounded by others who are missing loved ones. Hopefully a time of reflection can help us prepare for the weeks ahead.
We will gather on Wed, Nov 12 at 3 pm in the Dowdy Room. Please RSVP to the church office if you plan to attend.

Young Adults
This group of folks mostly in their 20s and 30s often gather for Bible study and fellowship. The next gathering will be Nov 22 at 6 pm at the home of Betsy and Christian Ferney. Bring a vegetarian item to add to a pot of Japanese-style potluck soup. Contact Carla Gregg for more information about the Young Adults.

Worship in the Mountain Tradition, Sunday Nov 23
The idea for this service came from a meeting with congregational members to share ideas about music and worship. Please join us as we honor the musical tradition that is very much a part of our state and our Christian heritage.
During the service we will also bring forward our pledges for 2009, as we lift up our eyes to the hills.

Bilingual Exchange
Bilingual Exchange classes for new English speakers meets from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in Fellowship Hall on Wednesday evenings.

Alternative Gift Market Nov 23
Support justice and help relieve poverty with items from One World Market, and save yourself a Christmas shopping trip! Heifer Project will also offer the chance to "buy" cows, chicks, and other farm families for third-world families.
Also, Pilgrim cookbooks will be offered for sale that day for $10.00.

Meet pastor Ginger on Sundays on Nov 9, 23, and 30 at 5 pm at Mad Hatter's on the corner of Broad St and Main St to walk Duke's East Campus. (off Nov 16)

CERT training movie Nov 16
Come to Pilgrim from 5-7 pm on Sunday Nov 16 for a training movie on disaster prepardness. Topics will include emergency supplies, utilities, communications, natural and man-made threats, search and rescue, travel and terrorism, medical triage, first-aid and disaster psychology in lively, easy-viewing chapters.
